2015 marks the 100th year anniversary of when the Hippo got loose from the circus train and found its way into Cottonwood Creek. To celebrate this anniversary, Hutto is organizing a parade that will take place in conjunction with Hutto Olde Tymes Days on Saturday October 17, 2015 in Downtown Hutto. The Parade begins at 10:00am, and check-in is at 8:00am.
The Hippolotofus have been invited to join the parade. Cheerio will be in it, along with all of us. You can drive, or you can walk. The parade route is just over a mile in length. If you intend to drive, you MUST fill out an application. Hutto is waiving the fee for all Hippolotofus members! Since we may not know who is driving and who is walking until Friday, Hutto has graciously allowed us to turn in our applications Friday night, at the M&G. But again, if you do not turn in an app, you will not be allowed in the parade!

If you think you will be driving, we highly encourage you to print out the application now, and fill out as much as possible. Last minute info, such as rental car info, can be filled out Friday Night at turn-in.
A reminder to wear your official Reunion Tee on Saturday--for the parade, for the Olde Tyme Fair, and for all the other events that day.

Breakfast on your own
11:00am - Stuart Feldman's ranch in Brenham for BBQ lunch and cow
patties. Takes about 1½ hours to get to Brenham from Houston
(or about the same from Hutto/Austin to Brenham). Arrive between 11:00 and
11:30. BBQ lunch at 11:30. Leave around 1:00pm, and head on to Hutto. 9855

6:00pm - Friday Night Meet & Greet, Part I. Meet at entrance of Hutto
High School Performing Arts Center; Location Change: Meet at
Hutto City Hall (Council Chambers) at 401 W. Front Street. We'll have pizza & pasta, you must bring
your own drinks; no liquor allowed. This is a private
event for Hippolotofus & guests only, $11 cover (due by Aug 11). Must pay in
advance, as we are buying food based on paid attendees. Update: There will be
water & tea available, but still a good idea to BYO-Drinks. After dinner and
M&G, we will view Alan Frank's
fantastic hippo film.
Reminder: We will be filling out parade applications during the Hutto City
Hall part of the M&G.

Hippolotofus only will move to hotel party room (AKA Hippodrome) for the usual
Friday Night M&G fun and games. Stop by your hotel room first and get your
hippo game presents if you are playing. We will have some
snacks (hippo cupcakes, courtesy of Tillie!), but once again, bring your own
beverages (liquor is ok this time!). Jen will be selling JenPos, plus there may
be other tables set up.

Saturday - Hutto Olde Tyme Days Fair - Oct 17
Wear the official Reunion Tee, #1, designed by Ade. We will take our group photo
sometime this morning. (NOTE: We may change the offical tee & group photo to
Friday night, still WIP/tbd)

8:00am - Festival begins and goes on most of day. The usual Fair
activities--food booths, vendors, lots of hippo stuff, live music, chicken poop
bingo.
10:00am - Parade begins. The Hippolotofus will be in the parade
2:00pm - Mike & Donna Fowler's house for wine & cheese & socializing,
plus see their amazing gardens. Right in Hutto, walking distance from Festival.

Breakfast at the hotel or on your own, then back to the real world. Lots of
hugs, kisses, tears and goodbyes. Sheila breathes a huge sigh of relief at
putting together another amazing Reunion, then starts planning 2016 before the
tears even dry.

The new contact person at the Holiday Inn Express is the new female group sales manager, Lisa Kiger (pronounced like Tiger). One "can" still contact Richard Logan as well, but Lisa is now the main person to contact with ANY room reservation issues and if they say that there are no particular room types left in our block---we knew that would be the case!! Hello fellow reunion attendees!
We will be having two games this year.
If you want to participate in the first game - you will need 1 hippo gift. It
needs to be valued at $25 or more.
Prizes remain wrapped until the very end.
If you want to play the second game - you need 1 hippo gift valued at
$35 or more. It is the traditional
game we have played many times where you may steal an others prize by trading
yours for theirs. The final name drawn will get the pick of any hippo they want
from those participating. Those ending up with the gift they brought will also
get to exchange until all have something new to them.
Things to remember:
All Hippo-theme Gifts should be new - no white rhino rejects or plushies
allowed. Exceptions would include antiques or pottery that is collectible,
duplicates you own that others would appreciate like hippo jewelry, hippo cookie
jars, hippo statues, hand made hippo items. Please try to find one gift that is
at least the minimum in stead of say 2 or 3 $10 items bundled together. Although
it is perfectly fine to have one item at $35 and more hippos as extras.

Gifts need to be wrapped. Gift bags and tissue are easy. If you want to be
economical you can use the newspaper, lunch bags or toilet tissue from the
hotel. We just need the hippos covered to add mystery and intrigue. Hippo gift
wrap, hippo gift bags or hippo accents encouraged.
You must include your name somewhere in/on the gifts. Everyone likes to know who
brought what Hippo.
Everyone is invited to play - no exclusions. We are one big Hippo family. If
you've got the hippo gifts then you can play any or all the games. You do not
have to play at all if you do not wish.

For detailed driving instructions, use Google Maps and input the addresses. It's so much easier than trying to print a bunch of maps. Having said that... below are some map images that give you a general idea of where you are going. The only detailed maps are from Houston to Stuart, and Stuart to Hutto, as that destination is in the country.
PS: Ignore the gray alternate routes on the overall views. I have no idea how to make them go away. Use the BLUE main route. Or however your map app takes you :).

Pricing info: The price is the same as last year, $60.00 for the hippo without a base and $70.00 for a hippo on a wood base. Shipping west of the Mississippi is $12.50 and $13.50 east of the Mississippi. |
